Hello and welcome to our Gluten-Free Fried Fish Tacos with Avocado Sauce where we guide you in making these delicious tacos… and we give you the recipe! These are delicious whether you have to eat gluten free or not! This is less of a beginner recipe than some of our others, so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Important notes: 1) cook times will vary greatly depending on how hot your oil is, so best to go by the deep golden brown color. The cook time is just a framework rather than a steadfast rule; 2) an immersion blender is recommended but you can use a food processor or other blenders for the sauce… no worries.

 Step 3 Prepare Fish

Cut fish to size for tacos (white flaky fish is ideal)

In clean bowl add:

Gluten-free 1:1 flour (we used Cup4Cup Gluten Free Multipurpose Flour) + very small amount of corn starch

Season flour and cornstarch mixture to taste with

  • Salt

  • Ground black pepper

  • Chili lime seasoning

In small bowl whisk 2 eggs

In a separate clean bowl, add gluten-free breadcrumbs

Season breadcrumbs to taste with

  • Salt

  • Ground black pepper

  • Chili lime seasoning

Coat the cut fish by

  1. Tossing in seasoned flour and cornstarch mixture

  2. Dip in whisked eggs

  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove fish from; allow a few seconds for excess egg to drip off

  4. Toss in bread crumbs

  5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 for a second coating and a crispy finish to your fried fish

Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F

Fry two minutes on each side, or until golden brown

Place cooked fish on paper towels to soak up excess oil. This step keeps fish coating from becoming soggy.
